There is one month to go before the settlement date on our new house….

Yes. We are buying a house (more like a townhouse, really). The offer was made (and accepted) on Friday, and today we went unconditional. Settlement date is April 22, at the moment.

We just had an offer accepted on a house! (Half a house, technically: It’s a big old villa which has been turned into two flats)

It’s located down some stairs, off The Terrace kinda between Salamanca road and St Marys church. It’s a lovely, lovely place with a ton of character, and wonderful ambience: Most of it has polished wood floors, and the whole thing has a 12ft stud.

So yeah. At this stage, it’s still in the hands of the builder, valuer, city council, solicitor and bank; but so far, so good!

We didn’t get this house; we were about $8,000 off.

There will be other houses, I’m sure. Some of them will be larger and/or closer to town! (but unlikely to be as affordable)

In the mean time, we can continue on; with only rent commitments!

The vendor is looking at offers tomorrow night.

We’ve got an offer in, with a set of conditions on it as of right now; but we should be able to go unconditional before tomorrow night.

Having seen that house; we’re probably going to make an offer, which is all terribly exciting!

Me and Cy are going to go have a look at this house on Friday.

We’re expecting it to be much too small (it’s about 65 square meters); but it’s a very characteristic sort of a house (you did look, right?). The flip side, is that it’s right at the very bottom end of our price range.

Have seen a couple more houses that are going to be worth looking at this weekend. Of course, we weren’t really planning on buying a house until April.

I’m sure we’ll be able to work something out if we need to.
